Amateur Radio in Namibia

The Amateur-Radio-Service enables the worldwide contact between Radio Amateurs. There are many different technical possibilities to take part in the Amateur-Radio-Service. Even self-built or technical modified units may be used if they accord with the regulations.

Everybody is allowed to only receive Amateur Radio in Namibia. Taking part in the Amateur-Radio-Service, which means transmitting, needs special knowledge and the approval with a personal callsign. The Namibian Communications Commission (NCC) therefore arranges Amateur-Radio-Examinations and certifies required knowledge with certificates. The legal basis for Amateur-Radio-Service in Namibia is the ‘Communications Act, 2005: Radio Regulations’. Amateur-Radio-Service international will be controlled by the ‘International Telecommunication Union’ (ITU).
